Books Read In February 2009

I’m posting a reading round-up of the month over at Facebook. This includes a list of all sixty-one books read in February, as well as some general thoughts and some more numbers (such as average reading time per book). You should be able to view it here. Reading in February!

In February, I read twenty-four books. That’s five short of the twenty-nine required to average one a day for the month, and my total in 2008 for January and February is only thirty-nine of sixty books. I am going to have to do a lot of catching up on school breaks!

Anyway, that said, last month, I read some awesome books.

Only two were non-fiction: Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and Not Quite What I Was Planning. The other twenty-two were fiction.

One was read for English class (The Great Gatsby) and one was research for a school project (Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera).

I was a contributor to one of them (Not Quite What I Was Planning).

One was an anthology of short stories (Shining On) and part of its profits go to charity.

A few that particularly stood out were A Little Friendly Advice; Audrey, Wait; Good Enough; Lock and Key; Song of the Sparrow; What Happens Here; Shining On; and The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks.

July Reading List

This was not the best reading month numbers-wise, but much of what I read was absolutely fantastic. Also I’m pretty sure that in compiling this list I missed a couple.

In choosing these top picks, I did not consider any of the Harry Potter books as my excitement over them probably would have taken all the top spots. Know that they are all (especially Deathly Hallows) fabulous!!!!

I was unable to pick a top book out my favorites, but here’s the list of my favorite eight books: Gentle’s Holler; Prep; Outside the Box; Evolution, Me And Other Freaks of Nature; Book of a Thousand Days; Dragon Slippers; Secret Society Girl; and The Kings Are Already Here. Read them all!!

And here’s my reading list. Except for the Harry Potter rereads, you’ll see the rating out of five stars next to the title. Remember: Five stars is new favorite, four is awesome, three is pretty good, two is kinda sucky, one is absolutely terrible.

June 2007 Reading List

June was an okay reading month, with 28 books read. Actually, that’s pretty good, considering I was traveling, which means not as much reading got done during those three weeks than would have been done otherwise. July is sure to be an even better month for reading, numbers-wise.

I know I’m further behind than ever on reviews, and I’m really sorry! There’s so much going on in my life right now; I’m on the go twenty-four hours a day, it seems sometimes! However, I’ll try to get caught up in April–both with reviewing and with reading as, I’m sorry to say, March was not a big reading month at all. I only read 16 books (if I counted correctly, that is–keeping track of them is another thing I’ve been doing a less than stellar job with). My top pick?

I read 35 books in February–quite a lot, especially considering it’s the shortest month! I reread some old favorites, which was nice, but I also discovered some new fabulous books. I know that I’m really behind on reviews, but I’m working on it. Thanks for being patient! I’ve listed my favorites, but it was a VERY hard choice. I had it narrowed down to about half of them and I kept having to cut more out! There are sooo many awesome books out there. And without further ado…
